Lee Sandquist

On June 2, 2011, the Buckingham Township Civic Association was very proud to award our first annual scholarship to Lee Sandquist, a graduating senior at Central Bucks East who will be attending Bates College in Maine this fall. Lee has demonstrated all the qualities that the Association sought—outstanding grades, leadership skills, good character, and a record of community service locally, nationally and even internationally.

As a freshman, Lee was a founding member of the CB East Interact Club which supports organizations as diverse as the New Britain Food Larder and the Maasai Cultural Exchange in Kenya. In his junior year, he helped with the fundraising and organization for a 12-day student service trip to Nicaragua which supported sustainable agriculture and reforestation. When Ohio flooded in 2008, he spent a week with home restoration projects.

On the home front, he has made an excellent suggestion for Buckingham—work with the See Green Club at CB East to promote awareness of land preservation, so that community involvement in preserving our green spaces begins early. Lee’s suggestion fits perfectly with the efforts of the BTCA to keep Buckingham green.

We congratulate Lee and we hope you join us in wishing him all the best in college and in his future endeavors.
